Nice to meet you

My name is Peter, I grew up in Haarlem and Hilversum in an environment of corporate films, documentaries and photography. My father was a filmmaker and filmed for documentaries and news columns. As a child I spent entire holidays in film laboratories pasting films or sweeping the film studio in Amsterdam.

At an early age my father put a large-screen camera in my hand. I proudly showed the first photos and expected buckets full of compliments, but that was a bit disappointing. The answer was clear: "we can't see anything on backs" or "why don't I see faces and where is the emotion? This photo has no details whatsoever in white and certainly not in black". No idea what he was talking about, but later.

With all that knowledge, I didn't do much, except for photography school. I ended up in the advertising world, even became a marketing manager at a large mail order company, wrote copy for travel companies and devised advertising campaigns.

My passion

The photo was taken a few years ago during a family visit in Utah, America on route 66. I try to look a bit tough, to match the decor, but that doesn't quite suit me. In practice, I am as soft as butter, as most creatives are.

Creatives and emotion belong together. I can't keep it dry during a Donald Duck movie and I prefer to avoid some music (Fado) because it makes the tears roll. By the way, I prefer music to be loud and good photos to be nice and large.

10 years ago I started making professional wedding films and corporate films on request. Exciting and fun, but given my background at photography school, I was still missing something. I can indulge myself more in Wedding Photography.

Hobbies? I have been taking guitar lessons for 10 years, so it is time for me to become a good guitarist. I have 2 involved children and 7 grandchildren. I have been sharing everything with my dear wife Yvonne for more than 30 years. Of course, the first thing she asks about is the wedding photos and what the bride looked like.

I like cycling, walking, playing badminton enthusiastically and listening to blues and hard rock. For me, there is nothing more wonderful than taking and editing your characterful wedding photos with great feeling. In the background a nice blues from Led Zeppelin or Johnny Winter.
